Extra help has been made available to flood victims as the clean up continues in Wychavon.
Network Worcestershire, who recondition broken household appliances are offering to collect any flood damage white goods at no charge. Residents can call 01562 513399 for further assistance.
Farmers are also being offered a door to door service for any domestic flood damaged household items, which have ended up on their land after the floods. They are asked to bring items to a central point and to ring Wychavon District Council on 01386 565018 for more information and to book a collection.
Sharon Casswell, Client Services Manager said, “We’re doing all we can to help affected areas with the clean up and running extra refuse collections. A lot of residents are having to wait for insurance companies to give them the green light before getting rid of their damaged items, but when they get the go ahead we’re ready to take things away.”
As far as possible refuse and recycling collections will resume as normal this week. Residents should not put flood damaged furniture and bulky items out with their household waste.
Road closures within the Wychavon area include:
- High Street, Droitwich (to remain closed for clearance of shop premises)
- B4084 Cropthorne – Road Collapse

“Criminals pretending to be ‘from the water board’ periodically operate across the force area causing misery to elderly and vunerable members of the community – and now they could well be more active and more prolific.” said a police spokesman.
The spokeman said that even though the occupant may have requested a water engineer to call, they should double-check any unknown callers identification and be 100% satisfied as to its validity before allowing entry.
“If anyone is at all suspicious about callers of this kind they should call there local Trading Standards office as well as letting the Police know what has happened.”
